ワンダアカフェ Wonder Cafe
Met up with our niece at this quirky cafe. Gotta say, the portions here were certainly very generous and yummy too!
We managed to wiped clean everything which was a real surprise to us, considering the amount of carbs involved.
Heard from our niece that this was one of the favourite places among her schoolmates, and we could certainly taste why 🙂

Happiness Cafe
We were planning to go for a hike this morning, and we saw there was a cafe that opens at 7.30am nearby. Quite a surprise since the area of the serviced apartment looked quite sleepy.
Breakfast was a simple affair: Toast with Eggs (boiled, fried, or scrambled) and the option of soup or salad (¥320 each), or both (¥520). Adding a drink would be an additional ¥320 (usual price ¥420).
Staff was friendly, place was lovely, and there was even a games machine 😀

Took a short break here while trying to figure out dinner plans, after our tiring hike up the hills.. 🙂
Shared a Croissant and Coffee (¥955 in total). Pretty standard food.

It was forecasted that the typhoon would hit our area in the afternoon today. It started drizzling in the morning, and we thought to just try and explore the nearby area in case the weather turned for the worse. By the time we located this place, the drizzle had turned into a downpour.
We had the Toast and Sandwich sets with drinks (¥1800 in total, including 10% tax). We gotta say we were wowed by the thick toast!

アラビカ 京都嵐山 % Arabica Kyoto Arashiyama
This is more of a take-away place, as the seating is available at a cost (¥1000 per 30 minutes). There are free seating area outside.
The coffee was very good, even for a non-coffee drinker.
The best part of it was that this cafe is just beside 桂川 Katsura River where the popular 渡月橋 Togetsu Bridge is. We could see many people taking their coffee away and just sitting by the river and savouring the hot coffee while enjoying the natual beauty.

エレファントファクトリー コーヒー Elephant Factory Coffee
Located in a small alley opposite of Nishiki Market, it is a very cosy place with less than 20 seats.
We tried a Medium Roasted Blend (EF Coffee 8, ¥700 per cup / ¥800 per mug) and Composition du Ciel (¥950 per pot).
The coffee beans are from a roast master Fukui located at Bihoro, Hokkaido. The drip coffee method is used, so there was a longer wait compared to espresso machine, while the tea leaves are from Cha Yuan, a specialty tea boutique which flagship store is located in Lyon, France.
English menu available.
