Seorae Korean Charcoal BBQ @Plaza Singapura

2016-04-05 21.14.41It was time to try something new! OCBC is having a 1-for-1 promotion for Galmaegisal (marinated pork skirt meat), so that kinda made us decide to try out this place.

According to the menu, galmaegisal is supposed to be “well-loved for its perfect combination of tender juiciness”, and “this unique cut that forms only 250 grams of a full-grown pig is said to be only serves to the Royal Family of Korea in the past”. We were quite sold to the idea of eating it already!

Each portion is $21.90++, and we chose the Original Galmaegisal and Garlic Soy Sauce Galmaegisal (the third option was spicy).

We also ordered a Basic Beef Set for $69++, which consisted of US prime beef bone-in short-ribs marinated overnight, US beef short plate, prime beef oyster blade marinated in bulgogi sauce, soybean paste stew, 2 rice, as well as free-flow barley tea and banchan.

The meats were all pretty good, and we especially enjoyed the short-ribs and galmaegisal. We also really liked the custard egg cooked at the rim, and requested for many top-ups 😀

Service wise, we think that there is definitely room for improvement.

We were supposed to order before getting our seats, so that they had time to set up the table. When we were shown to our seats however, we were left alone and mostly ignored, and we had to ask a couple of times before we got our drinks. It again took a while for our meats to arrive, and we were missing the dipping sauce. Took 2 staff to figure out what we required; the first one brought us cheese when we asked for sauce 😮 However, the staff certainly tried their best to be friendly and helpful.
