We needed to have more Thai food! And since we also needed to shop more, we ended up at Yum Saap inside Platinum Fashion Mall.
Yum Saap is a chain restaurant in Bangkok, and there are quite a few branches in the various shopping malls.

Boiled Chicken and Fried Chicken with Rice
Chicken Satay
While our friends were busy with their last minute shopping, we were busy with our last minute eating as well 😛
Just opposite Palladium World Shopping Mall (gotta cross a rather wide road, just follow the locals if you want to jay-walk), there was actually a small stretch of food places, resembling our local coffee shop, without air-conditioning. Kuang Heng Chicken Rice looked quite promising (aka crowded), and we decided to pop in and check it out! Ordered a combination of Boiled Chicken and Fried Chicken with Rice (THB50), as well as 10 sticks of Chicken Satay (tumeric mixed with chicken, THB50).
We were sad (and proud) to say that, chicken rice in Singapore was still better, with more succulent chicken, and more fragrant rice. The chilli sauce here was nice though. Surprisingly, the highlight was actually the chicken satay… It was deliciously tender!

Katsu Curry set
Chirashi Don set
We wanted to try something different for dinner, but it was crowded everywhere! Finally, we found a Japanese restaurant that still had available seats, so off we went. We tried the Katsu Curry set, Chirashi Don set (x2) and the Bara Chirashi Don set (x2).
Each set came with miso soup, chawanmushi, salad and pickles. The sashimi slices were quite fresh and the rice was not overly sticky, but somehow, the food did not quite “wow” us. The curry was of mild spiciness, and the fried pork slices was so-so… Quite a disappointing meal 😦
The total bill for 5 adults came to THB 1783.16, inclusive of 7% VAT and 10% service charge.

We had a rather late lunch due to the very heavy breakfast, and finally settled for Spring by Sanyod while we were roaming about in Central World. This appeared to be a Chinese-Thai fusion restaurant. Here’s what we had, and I think the fried items were probably the better ones:
With drinks, our total bill for 5 adults came up to be THB1358, inclusive of 7% VAT.

Nice ambience!
We woke up early to go to Roast Coffee for breakfast! It was not difficult to find and we reached the place close to its opening hours so we could easily get a table for the 5 of us. The decoration was very chic and well-lit, with full-length glass windows and very high ceilings giving a very spacious interior.
Chic exterior
We were finally cafe hopping and hubby had previously done some research, and it seemed like Greyhound Cafe was a good choice!
We had a little difficulty locating the cafe, as Siam Center as a shopping mall was rather big, and there was actually a fashion store by the same name (that’s the origin of the Greyhound name).
Anyway, the cafe was quite near the fashion store, and we immediately fell in love with the environment when we reached.
Happy couple!
Today would be our activity day!
We had breakfast with bread bought from the 7-11 store just beside the hotel when we came back last night after a long day of shopping and walking around Chinatown.
We had 8 adults and 3 children, so we managed to pre-book a half day tour in advance, and the driver-cum-tour-guide came to our hotel to pick us up in a very comfortable van.
The first stop was the Mae Klong Railway Market, and we had close to 45 minutes to wonder around the market before the scheduled train arrival.
Most tourists were at the stalls lined along the railway tracks, but there were actually many more stalls behind them, much like our local wet market.
Cafe Latte and Thai Iced Tea with Milk
While I shopped at the amazing Platinum Fashion Mall, poor hubby needed a place to rest his tired legs. We found Black Canyon Coffee at basement, conveniently located just beside the escalator at Zone 1, and there were actually 3 branches within the mall!
We had a Cafe Latte (THB75~S$3) and a Thai Iced Tea with Milk (THB65~S$2.50). The tea was great, and definitely a perk-me-up, since I managed another 2 hours of shopping after that 😛 The cafe latte was alright. Each order came with a free little muffin cup filled with small biscuits, which was a nice complement to the drinks. Hubby had a rather lovely time sinking deep into the sofa seats. There were definitely more male customers than females, so perhaps a common waiting spot while the ladies go on a shopping spree 😛

We finally made it to Bangkok!!
This was a special trip that we were not sure if it would actually happen, if everyone really could make it, and if everyone would truly enjoy the trip (or kill one another).. And when it did happen, it really changed my opinion of Bangkok! As everyone flew in at various times, and the itinerary was flexible such that we would all join in at times and split up at other times, I could only write about what the 2 of us did 😛
Hubby and I decided to take a late flight to Bangkok, figuring that we might as well as pay for an additional night of stay in Bangkok and start the following day earlier, than to pay for the taxi to Changi airport and the more costly day flight. It was not too bad really, we just had to make sure that we knock off on the dot and have dinner at the airport 🙂
So here is the summary of what we did:
