We decided to check out this popular cafe at Surry Hills that was a short walk away from our apartment.
Located in Paramount House, this was a relatively spacious cafe with high ceiling in an open concept; one can walk through the cafe and straight to other parts of the building. We felt very relaxed here!
After last night’s experience, I took a closer look at the drinks selection and was happy to find that there was also a rather wide range of tea selections and other non-coffee options here.
Since we already had pre-breakfast, we decided to share a main dish 🙂
- Gumbo (A$21): The rather black piece of not very appealing-looking seemingly toast-with-butter turned out to be a super delicious housemade cornbread that was soft and slightly dense. The tender and juicy fried chicken, the variety of vegetables (okra, kale, and pickled slaw) and chorizo, along with the spicy gravy made this a very hearty meal. We loved every bite of it. Plus it was such a balanced diet. Got meat, got veggies of multiple colours; good eh?
- Ginger, Tumeric and Honey Almond Latte (A$5): There was a strong whiff of cinnamon, but this was actually a very soothing blend with a mild symphony of the flavours mixed together. Reminded us a little of very mild sweet potato flavour somewhat. I liked it!
- Skinny Latte (A$4.50): The coffee tasted good; strong and smooth.
We liked Sydney already 🙂
