Oh, we walked past many times the Polar Bear cafe むじゃき Mujyaki located in Tenmonkan walking street (see banner picture) on our way back to our hotel. It created the 白熊 Shirokuma Shaved Ice during one summer and it went viral. So now you get long queues at the 4-storey cafe which also sells merchandises. No we didn’t went in. 🙂
Well, I guess we have to work harder to find nicer cafes in Kagoshima the next round… any recommendations?
パリカフェ Paris Cafe
We were just strolling and on our way back to our hotel in Kagoshima, when we looked up and happen to see the signboard of パリカフェ Paris Cafe.
It looked quite inviting, and we decided to just grab a drink before returning back to our hotel.
Located on the second floor, we found a quiet corner and had our カフェ ラテ Caffe Latte (¥550) and ホット抹茶ミルクラテ Hot Matcha Milk Latte (¥580), surrounded by pictures and wallpaper of buildings of Paris. The drinks were pretty nice, and we really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of the cafe 🙂

星乃珈琲店 Hoshino Coffee
We were in-between bus tours, and feeling too tired for further exploration by foot today. Since the City View night bus tour would start from the Bus Terminal “East 4” in front of Kagoshima Chuo Station East Exit , we decided to just hang around at the nearby アミュプラザ鹿児島 Amu Plaza Kagoshima. Since we were not shoppers, I guess it would be quite natural for us to find a cafe to sit 😛
A familiar name caught our eye, and we decided to find out how different スフレパンケーキ Pancake Soufflé (¥550 for single; ¥700 for double) might be, and also shared a pot of フルーツティー Hot Fruit Tea (additional ¥600 for the set, ¥750 for single order).
We thought that the Pancake Soufflé in Japan and Singapore were quite comparable 🙂 We also enjoyed the fruity tea that was not overly sweet.

シアトルズベストコーヒー Seattle’s Best Coffee
We had some time before our train to 指宿 Ibusuki was scheduled to arrive, and this seemed to be a rather popular breakfast option.
There were a few options for breakfast set, ranging from ¥360 to ¥480 each, with a basic small drink, and we were able to top up an additional ¥50 to upgrade a drink to a latte. We both opted for croissants, and both food and drinks were pretty standard. We reckoned that this would not be a bad option if you need a sit-down place for an early breakfast, while waiting for your train to arrive 🙂

ダンカフェ DAN Cafe
We went to check out the 鹿児島ジャズフェスティバル Kagoshima Jazz Festival that was held at the 天文館公園 Tenmonkan Park, and found this nearby cafe to chill out.
The small 抹茶ラテ Matcha Latte (¥375) and small カフェラテ Iced Latte (¥300) were quite alright, and while the selection of cakes looked quite appetising, we wanted to save our stomachs for dinner later, and did not manage to try any cakes.
Do note that free WiFi is available here.
