When hubby got the “free ticket” from Cathay (with a SGD 200+ tax), we somehow managed to deconflict and squeezed out a short weekend trip to Hong Kong and we paid like SGD 600 for my ticket -_-“
Chiong-ed home for a quick shower after my night class, we grabbed our backpack and took public transport to the airport where we had a quick supper prior to our red-eye flight. I was so tired that I slept through most of the turbulence, except the part where I kinda got lifted up my seat… the importance of keeping your seat belt on at all times!
This time, we decided to stay at Four Points by Sheraton at Tung Chung, mainly because we wanted to stay nearer to the airport due to our flight timings. It was great that there were free shuttle between the hotel and Tung Chung MTR, as well as between the hotel and the airport! The room was quite nice and we were happy with our stay 🙂
The short weekend getaway was a really good break for us! Here was what we did during our short trip:
Day 1 – Hong Kong Island
- Dim sum breakfast at 蓮香居 Lin Heung Kui
- Explored street art at Central District [Website]
Halfway Coffee
Kau Kee Food Cafe
Yat Lok Restaurant (Unfortunately, it seemed to have lost the wow-factor. See previous trip here)
- Enjoy Ding Ding tram ride to Shau Kei Wan and checked out the street market
- Dabao-ed dinner from supermarket at Tung Chung back to hotel to eat
Day 2 – Kowloon Island
Kung Wo Beancurd Factory
- Lunch at 一點心 One Dim Sum (Still as good as before! See previous trip here)
- Break at Jimmy’s Cafe
Kam Wah Cafe (The trick is to hang around till a fresh batch of polo bun arrives, join the queue to dabao the polo bun with butter and eat on the spot. See previous trip here )
(Still as good as before! Vampire cravings satisfied 😛 See previous trip here)
- Catch up with friends at Urban Cafe
Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market (A great place if you love fruits!) [Google Maps]
Honey Bakery
Jade Market (We arrived near closing time, so only a few stalls remained open. [Google Maps])
Yau Ma Tei Public Library (We were too stuffed, and it was raining, so we decided to go read. Some interesting titles, but you will need to know Traditional Chinese to read the Chinese books. [Google Maps])
Four Seasons Pot Rice (Still as good as before! See previous trip here)
Day 3
- Breakfast in room
- Check out of hotel
- Last minute snacking at 蛋撻王餅店 King Bakery in the airport
