The Cornerstone @Bishan Park

Cosy little place in the park

It’s a happy day so we are here for a happy lunch!

The Cornerstone is just located within Bishan Park and it’s one of the few places we go to whenever we have any cause for celebration (or sometimes we just wanna get out of the office!)

The indoor deco is modern and simple with a bar counter (mostly for customers who come in for drinks on soccer nights) and a cooking counter. Apparently they also conduct cooking classes, possibly to make better use of the place during slow-moving weekday afternoons. There is an alfresco area for customers who want to be closer to nature, and it’s especially refreshing to sit out there after a rain.

I ordered a set lunch of 1/2 rack of pork ribs while my colleagues shared a Caesar salad, Katsu-don, chicken wings, and brownies.

The Cream of Chicken soup that came with the set was rather normal as what you would get at other restaurants. The pork ribs, on the other hand, were succulent and meaty! The meat came off easily and was smoked nicely. Totally enjoyed it!

The one thing that is ‘famous’ or most talked-about in this place is the chicken wings. You see, you can order 1/2 dozen of these fried bird wings at various level of hotness. It starts from Level 1 which is essentially no chilli applied, all the way to Level 10! The executive chef (who knew my colleague and came by our table when we were having desserts, and kindly extended 10% discount off our bill) shared that beyond Level 5, they add in different kinds of spices to up the hotness level. He explained that it’s equivalent to eating chilli padi RAW. I was already *sweating* with Level 3…
