Since we were already nearby at the Flee Away Cafe, we decided to drop by Rouse too! We couldn’t get a proper table, so ended up at the long table by the mirror wall. It was initially kind of strange to be staring at oneself so up close and personal, but very soon we were having a lot of fun taking selfies!!

After much self-entertainment, we decided to order some food. Still Earl Grey for JY, Healing Garden for me, which was kinda herbal with lemongrass and ginger (good for tummy!) and a Long Black for hubby. We also decided to share a Quinoa Quake.

Quinoa Quake

The Quinoa Quake consisted of a poached egg on top of a quinoa patty and topped with a generous amount of smoked salmon, with a whole bunch of raw leafy greens thrown in by the side. The patty was actually quite deliciously grainy! We were playing with our food and I ended up being the first one cutting the yolk accidentally 😦 But oooohhhh, it was so runny! After that, we devoured the food rather quickly, haha!

JY and I were also very pleased with our tea – it was definitely way better than whatever we just had a cafe ago 😛 But of course, at $7 per pot, it was almost double the price. But I think I would rather pay this amount to try something of a better quality. And a very pretty tea cup came along with the price! Yes, it was totally out of place in this cafe with a rather rustic feel, but who can resist a pretty tea cup? 🙂 The Healing Garden had very interesting flavours; when I had my very first cup, all I could taste was the lemongrass. Where was the ginger taste? By the third cup, the tea had become spicy! Not quite sure if it was really healing, but it certainly was a good perk-me-up!

Long Black

Long Black

Hubby felt that the Long Black was quite acidic, and was in the same league as his first cup of coffee earlier. Ah, but JY said that these 2 places were more well-known for food than coffee, so we didn’t have super high expectations of the coffee… Hehe.
