Country feel

We don’t normally venture so far out to the East. But wifey was working (yes, on National Day somemore 😦 ) at Expo and since its National Day and I have nothing to do at home, I ventured all the way here to nua at fArt tArtz while waiting for her. 🙂

This is a cozy little cafe right opposite Coffee Beans on Level 2 foyer of Expo Hall 1. The seats are quite spread out and can easily occupy 60-70 people. Sofa seats are plenty and the beautiful decorations create a very country feel to this corner of the exhibition halls.

Many students can be seen studying here (and at Coffee Beans too). They are probably from ITE, which is just opposite, and schools in the Eastern area. I wouldn’t mind studying here too (but that era has long past me 🙂 ) with the nice ambience and high ceilings to drive the heat away. That is when there isn’t a high-volume trade show going on at the same time. 😉

fArt tArtz are famous for their tarts, especially Mud Tarts which are served in a flower pot and looks like you are eating directly from the mud! But I didn’t order that. Looking at the time when I reached Expo, I ordered a Ice Cafe Latte (S$6.10) and their another popular item, Pasta in a Jar – Fusion Penne (S$9.90). And since this is National Day, all Singaporeans get 20% discount! Woohoo!

Pasta in a Jar

The latte was smooth, milky and really chills the hot weather away. The pasta was creatively presented in a jar and it was cooked al dente and the mushrooms were just yummy!

Afternoon tea

Wifey ended her work at around 4pm and we ordered a Cafe Latte (for me) (S$5.50), a Blueberry Soda (S$4.50) and a Tira-Misu in a Jar (S$6.80) for tea-break.

The Tira-Misu is layered in the jar and you need to scoop it all in to extract the complete flavour… Ooh… What a great prelude to dinner…
