Laurent’s Cafe @The Hereen

wp-image-799730896jpg.jpgWe were looking for a quiet Sunday brunch place, and Laurent’s Cafe seemed to be a good option 🙂

This is a casual dining cafe opened by French artisan chocolatier Laurent Bernard among his other dessert cafes and serves hearty French food, as well as his well-liked chocolate desserts and cakes.

  • Farmers Breakfast ($24++): Other than the slightly dry scramble eggs, we enjoyed the very flavourful roasted potatoes, sausages, baked bacon, sautéed mushrooms and toasted bread. The bacon felt healthy because it was not at all salty, haha!
  • Dark Chocolate Soufflé ($18.50++): We were initially quite apprehensive in ordering this, for we were neither dessert nor chocolate fans. But this cafe was supposed to be famous for all things chocolate, so we were curious to try. Served with vanilla ice cream and sauce, we thought that it was excellent! The rich dark chocolate and the lightly sweetened ice cream and sauce was just nice for us. The portion was abit too much for 2 of us to share, but probably just nice for chocolate lovers.
  • Lungo ($6.50++): Hubby decided to try a Lungo this time, which is a “stretched” version of an espresso, with twice the amount of water. Hot milk and a salty chocolate cookie was served by the side.

Drinks were a little pricey, but for chocolate lovers, there are 5 versions of hot chocolate drinks available here! Maybe next time we can jio our chocolate-loving friends here 🙂

Prices were a bit higher than the norm, but it was a lovely place to spend a nice quiet morning, away from the crowd. Water is available freely. There was also a current promotion of 10% discount (till 1pm on Sundays) when we used UOB credit card to pay.
