Sydney Madang Korean BBQ Restaurant @Pitt Street, Sydney

Another recommendation by Ms I, Madang is a popular Korean BBQ restaurant near our apartment. We reached the restaurant just past 7.30pm, and there was a small crowd waiting outside. Luckily, there were more tables for smaller groups, and we only waited 15 minutes for our table.

We were seated near the entrance, and it was kind of nice for we had the heater right next to our table, with a lovely breeze coming in front the entrance. Hubby said it reminded him of the street food eats feeling.

We ordered the following to share:

  • Haemul Pajun Seafood & Shallot Korean Pancake (A$15 for small): This was delicious! It was very crispy on the outside, with a very nice chewy texture inside. A little disappointed with the very little seafood ingredients though. Guess we were spoilt by the Melbourne restaurant 😛
  • Bul Nal Jungol Baby Octopus & Marinated Beef (A$45): This was funny… We wanted to order the baby octopus & marinated beef, but it seemed that we had ordered incorrectly for the waitress announced that it was seafood & tofu. The only seafood was baby octopus, and there were plenty of other vegetables other than tofu, and strangely, there was beef too! When the bill came, it showed octopus and beef.. Lots of confusion. We liked the sweet and slightly spicy soup, and the freshness of the ingredients. However, there was very little octopus. Each baby octopus was cut into even smaller bits…

Overall, though the food was nice, it felt a bit overpriced.

Service was pretty good though. We were mostly served by Howard, who was quite friendly! He took our orders with a smile and helped us cook the food in the hot pot, as well as explaining to us the sequence of eating the food in the hot pot. We thought that was very nice of him 🙂

By the time we were done with our dinner, there was still a queue outside. This place is really quite popular!
