A Jetstar promo got us packing for a short trip to Hong Kong 🙂
The 10am flight meant that we could have some proper rest before going to the airport for a hearty breakfast. Since it was yet another chillax trip, we actually re-visited some of our favourite places.
And thanks (but no thanks) to typhoon, we actually had to stay in the hotel on the 2nd last day and had afternoon tea in the hotel, and spam ancient Hong Kong movies in bed! First time we encountered typhoon no 8 in Hong Kong!
We had initially planned to take the boat ride to the outlying islands, but alas, the waters were rather choppy today, and we would rather not risk it. Hence, we settled for a fun people-watching exercise, as we observed how the locals buy seafood 😀 It was rather fascinating!
We also took a stroll in the area, and could not resist trying 蘿蔔絲茶粿 Radish Rice Pudding / Tea Cake (HKD14) from 許姑娘家鄉茶粿 Mrs. Hui Traditional Chinese Rice Pudding. Hubby enjoyed it, but I did not quite like such texture 😛
While there were quite a few seafood lunch options here, we did not feel like trying them, but decided to opt to go back to Kowloon for 一點心 One Dim Sum 😀

We wanted a simple breakfast before heading out for our half day trip to 西貢 Sai Kung, hence we settled for a 茶餐廳 cha can teng near our hotel.
We got ourselves Breakfast Sets B 牛油方包香腸煎蛋+沙嗲牛肉麵 (HKD28) and Breakfast Set D 營養麥皮牛油方包+雞蛋, 餐肉 (HKD29), which could be customised, e.g. butter toast or bun, noodles options, and side dishes options.
For this price, it was really quite a spread, and in particular, we enjoyed the satay beef noodles!

We needed a drink after all the travelling, and this cafe seemed rather inviting 🙂
Both the GaBee Iced Fruity Tea (HKD58) and Shakerato Caffe (HKD38) were great thirst-quenchers, and it was a pretty nice place to chill and relax, while we thought about our next food destination 😛

This was our most adventurous meal of the trip, for we travelled entirely by bus (big and small) to reach this place 😛
There were quite a few restaurants selling roast goose, but we had our minds set on this place 深井裕記.
So many choices, but not enough stomach space, so we had to settled:
Gotta say that the the long trip down was worth it! The goose meat was tender and the skin crispy, and the Chinese cabbage was really sweet!

We had initially wanted to have porridge at 生記粥麵 San Kee Porridge which has a branch just opposite our hotel, but the place was closed today 😦 So, we headed to the 茶餐廳 cha chan teng beside it instead.
We had the 早餐A Breakfast Set A (HK$28) and the 营养早餐 Nutritious Breakfast (multiple options, HK$29), and were pleasantly surprised by the food. Our first time trying out a relatively unknown cha chan teng (usually we go to our favourite haunts, or those rather popular with tourists type) and the food was not bad at all!

We chanced upon this cafe beside the Broadway Cinematheque (a small four-houses cinema block which features numbers of film festivals and shows many unconventional art films) in Yau Ma Tei after visiting Temple Market, and we really liked the concept of the cafe + bookstore 😀
We were still very full from dinner (think pig’s blood, fishballs, polo bun, and claypot rice 🙂 ), so we opted for a Pomegranate and Apple Juice (HK$32) and a Iced Cafe Latte (HK$42). The juice was sour and refreshing, while the latte was bitter and smooth.
We liked the ambience of the place, which is a cafe within a bookstore. We took turns to just walk among the shelves of books to browse the books. It was a chillax way to end our first night in Hong Kong 🙂
