Our next stop was Tangkak as Dr K wanted to buy some tau sar piah. Conveniently along the same street, there were 2 eateries that looked very popular.
Our first lunch stop was Restoran Kuang Fei, famous for Tangkak beef noodles. We shared the Beef Noodles (RM8 for small, RM9 for big, RM12 for additional ingredients). The small portion was quite little, but the soup was awesome! While the beef was not very tender, we thought it was flavourful with a good bite.
Despite feeling quite full, we decided to still try the Dry Bak Kut Teh next door (RM13 for 1-pax portion).
The pork belly were cooked in the herbal bak kut teh soup before being stirred in dark soy sauce gravy. The result was an addictive pot of savoury meat and ladies fingers! The Chicken Feet (RM3.50) was also delicious! The Yam Rice (RM1.20) was a tad disappointing as it was lacking in fragrance.
We read a review that mentioned that it was possible to order beef noodles while seated at the bak kut teh shop but not the other way round. Not sure if this was true. It was also interesting to see people coming by both shops to sell stuff from blankets to lottery tickets.
