Cafe Pal @Middle Road

We were around the area and had an hour or so to spare… Whipped out our phones to find a nearby cafe, and Cafe Pal showed up as one of the options! This is a cafe that serves modern Thai food, so it seemed quite a waste if we did not try out some of the food!

The cafe has a modern look with a high bar top and a sofa set near the entrance for a more comfortable, relax sit. There is a whole section on bubble teas for takeaways and I suspect this is to cater to the students in the Bugis area. The cafe allows party reservations and you can book the whole place and invite friends over for parties!

The drinks came rather quickly! The cafe latte ($5.50) came with a couple of sweet and crispy butter cookies, with sugar cubes served in a small container, and all these were set on a plate that came with a sprig of leaves for decorations purpose. Very pleasing to the eye! Hubby thought that the coffee itself was not bad 🙂
The lime juice with bluebell flowers ($5.80) was very refreshing! We also topped up $1 to try the fried fish strips, quite crunchy but we were not very wow-ed by it.

The grilled chicken wings ($8) were good! Served on a plate that appeared to have an additional glass layer, pepper was generously sprinkled all over the wings and reflecting themselves on the glass, making the dish look rather appealing 🙂 Loved this dish as the sweet and salty flavours were quite balanced and not overpowering.

The otah fish cake ($8) came in 5 pretty small ceramic containers and were rather spicy! The coconut cream was very light and did not really help to reduce the heat… Haha.

The meal itself was not exactly cheap, but we had the whole place to ourselves and it had quite a nice, relaxing atmosphere 🙂
