I was sleeping off the effects of the flu medicine and we ended up having a really late lunch near our hotel, at a restaurant recommended by one of the hotel staff.
It was past lunch time and the restaurant was really quiet.
Browsing through the menu, we decided on 2 sets, a Mushroom Beef Galgogi Pot (₩13,000) and a Special Korea-style Ribs (₩15,000). The staff enquired if we wanted 2 bowls of rice, and seemed surprised that we only wanted 1 bowl.
Food was served quite quickly, and we gotta say that we were very impressed with the food! The flavours were never too spicy or salty; in fact, we found the balance of the flavours to be very soothing and welcoming.
There was a generous amount of beef slices in the soup, and the soup itself was sweet but light. The “Special Korea-style Ribs” turned out to be halibut with a thin layer of meat on top, with a slightly spicy sauce. It was delicious, but we were like “is this yummy thing fish or meat??“, till we clarified with the staff, haha!

All the side dishes were delicious too, but we particularly enjoyed the crunchy lotus root slices with sesame sauce, as well as the glass noodles. Even the simple kelp soup was very flavourful!
When we were halfway through our meal, the staff gave us 2 small cups of drinks and told us to drink them after we finish our food. It turned out to be a fermented barley from that was lightly sweetened and very yummy.
We paid ₩30,000 for our meal, but after looking through the pictures, we realised that the 2 sets cost ₩28,000. As there was no receipt given, we were not sure what the additional ₩2,000 was for. The drinks , maybe?
