Nam Nam!
We wanted an early dinner before heading to Stephanie Sun’s concert (scream!) and there were empty seats at Nam Nam… Finally! The queue at Raffles City always made us wonder if the food was really so good, or if it’s because the prices were very reasonable for a place in town area.
We were happy to have seats by the counter in front of the kitchen area, so we got our seats immediately. We ordered a Pho Beef Steak Slices ($8.90) and Grilled Chicken, Egg Omelette and Chicken Floss Banh Mi (baguette $7.90).
Service was very efficient! The pho arrived almost at the same time as we sat down at our allocated seats 😮 The baguette arrived about 3 minutes later. Impressive!

Hanoi Pho
The pho was firm and almost too hard, so it was great for people who do not like soggy noodles. The beef slices were quite generous and there were easily 8-10 slices. The beef slices were served medium rare but a quick soak in the hot soup would cook them real quickly. Soup was flavourful without being too salty. Plenty of condiments available at the table if you prefer more punch with your food.

Banh Mi
The baguette was delicious too! The bread had a hard crust that was still easy to bite through and the rest of the bread tore off easily. The sweet mayonnaise went well with the chicken. The omelette, vegetables and chilli help to provide a refreshing balance to the flavours, otherwise it might have been quite gelat as the mayonnaise was quite thick. The chicken floss was almost non-existence though.

Busy at work
Since we were seated just in front of the kitchen, we saw how the noodles were prepared. One person would get the orders from the machine, pass it to the guy in charge of cooking the beef/pork balls and up to 6 portions of noodles at any one time. The noodles were cooked very quickly and passed back to the person who got the orders. Then he would throw in the raw beef/chicken slices, and vegetables and pour in boiling hot soup. Then voila! The bowls were passed to the serving staff who then picked up a slice of lime with a spoon for each bowl before sending off to the customers… Efficient!
Excluding queuing time, we easily finished our meal in less than 20 minutes; a fast and good meal!
