L’Rez @Nanyang Polytechnic

Here again!

Here again!

This time round, it was to meet an old friend!

So we tried to make a reservation but reservations were full, and we were advised to try walking in at 11:30am. And we did, but it was not full leh! Haha…

L’Rez has been teaming up with more local celebrity chefs in the “Celebrity Chef Series”. After Violet Oon, there was Chef Michael from Brussels Sprouts Group, Celebrity “Chef-in-Black” Emmanuel Stroobant from Saint Pierre and Celebrity Chef Eric Teo from Mandarin Oriental. Good reviews were heard from diners and this proves to be a great opportunity for students to learn from the best!

We got our seats promptly and ordered our starters and mains. I tried these wonderful dishes.

  • Seared Tuna Salad which was Lightly-seared Tuna slices and cucumber ribbons, crisp lettuce with lightly-spiced dressing. The tuna slices were only slightly seared and remained pinkish inside. This gave a very juicy texture and went very well with the carrot slices. I love that there were peanut bits sprinkle over the tuna which gave it a crunch of nutty flavour in your mouth!
  • For the mains, I ordered the Pan-fry Leg of Chicken with Lemongrass-Coconut Sauce on tomato rice and haricot vert. The chicken leg was pan-fried perfectly and it was very tender. The tomato rice was moist and not hard and gave a very hearty feeling when you munch on it.

DOTD (Dessert Of The Day) was Mango on Coconut Cream. The coconut cream was not too sweet and it was smooth. Our old friend could not take both ingredients and was trying her luck to get it changed. The waitress replied with the standard reply of “You need to let us know 3 days in advance because we do not stock up other ingredients.” But to our surprise, she added that she would check with the kitchen if they could whip something up for her. In a short while, the chef came and presented a wonderful fruit platter for our old friend! Kudos to the kitchen for being able to handle a situation and solve a problem creatively!
