早餐坊 Breakfast Bistro @Taipei

IMG_4756IMG_4752We were taking a stroll after breakfast, when we were attracted by this 早餐坊 Breakfast Bistro… and had our second (and third :P) 蛋餠 Crepe of the day!

Both the Cheese Bacon 培根起司燒餅 (NT45) and Smoked Chicken 燻雞蛋餅 (NT40) versions were quite good!

Now we really need a good long stroll to walk off everything…

四海豆浆大王 Four Seas Soy Milk King @Taipei

IMG_4749Our first breakfast on the final day was at 四海豆浆大王 Four Seas Soy Milk King along 長安西路 Chang’an West Road which is very near to our hotel.

For NT90, we got ourselves a 豆浆 Soy Milk, 燒餠夹葱蛋夹肉排 Chinese Pancake with Spring Onion Egg and Meat Patty, and 肉鬆蛋餠 Crepe with Meat Floss.

It was always quite satisfying whenever we have this simple local breakfast amidst the bustling busy morning traffic  🙂

And off we go to explore other parts of the city before our flight in the afternoon!

亓家蒸餃專賣店 Qi’s Steamed Dumplings @Taipei

We were chatting with the staff at PK Caffe that we were on our way to check out 陳家涼麵 Chen’s Cold Noodles, and she recommended that we should try out 亓家蒸餃專賣店 Qi’s Steamed Dumplings nearby since we were in this area. We were glad that we took up her recommendations!

We tried the 蝦仁絲瓜蒸餃 Prawn and Luffa Dumplings (NT120 for 8 pieces), and we were wow-ed! Each dumpling was juicy and filled with a generous amount of fresh fillings covered by thin layer of dumpling skin. The luffa complemented the meat well.

We felt so lucky to be able to eat really good dumplings for 2 consecutive days 🙂

陳家涼麵 Chen’s Cold Noodles @Taipei

Wow, we really walked a lot today!

Our objective was to check out 陳家涼麵 Chen’s Cold Noodles (raved about by an award-winning ex-DJ), which was a bit out of the way and so we never did make it here in all our previous trips 😛 This time, we decided to make an effort 😛

When we reached the place, we were a bit surprised that the place was modern and air-conditioned, and signage had Japanese! Hmm, didn’t realise that this was a popular tourist food place.

We decided to share a small plate of 涼麵 Cold Noodles (or Chilled Noodles, NT40) which tasted pretty decent. Perhaps the sauce was a bit too sweet to our liking. I think that adding the chilli could have given it a better kick 🙂

PK Caffe @Taipei

IMG20171031160126We did another pit stop at PK Caffe after 克爾咖啡 Quel Cafe, and we were very glad that we did!

A small cosy cafe in a rather quiet neighbourhood, we had a 卡布奇諾 Cappuccino (NT70) and 红枣黑木耳露 Red Dates Black Fungus Drink (NT60).

The coffee was aromatic and strong, which was a really good perk-me-up for we had been walking the whole day in search of Chen’s Cold Noodle.

My first time trying this Red Dates Black Fungus Drink, and I thought it was pretty good and not overly sweet 🙂

The staff here was also very friendly, and even gave us some recommendations for dinner 🙂

(which incidentally was also dumplings, haha)

克爾咖啡 Quel Cafe @Taipei

We had actually intended to check out a sit-down cafe, but its prices proved to be quite exorbitant 😮 So we decided to give it a miss, but a good cup of coffee was still needed!

Google suggested 克爾咖啡 Quel Cafe, which turned out to be an excellent choice and super value-for-money. Our NT55 cup of aromatic happiness in a latte form 🙂

德基純手工水餃 De Ji Handmade Dumpling @ Keelung

In between snacking at 基隆廟口夜市 Keelung Miao Kou Night Market, we decided to walk out to explore the nearby area while we waited for Mr J to arrive.

It was by pure chance that we walked by 仁愛市場 Ren Ai Market and saw some lights, which led us to go into the building to check it out. Being night time, most of the shops were closed, but there was this brightly-lit 德基純手工水餃 De Ji Handmade Dumpling, and the colourful dumplings called out to our hearts 😛

We opted for the 三寶水餃 Mixed Trio Dumplings (NT160 for 12 pieces), which consisted of 紅寶高麗菜水餃 Cabbage Dumplings (with Red Yeast skin), 翡翠韭菜水餃 Chives Dumplings (with Green Spinach skin), and 黃金蝦仁水餃 Prawn Dumplings (with Yellow Pumpkin skin). It was worth noting that the stall indicated that they do not use colouring or preservatives, and these colourful skins and fillings were made from fresh ingredients.

The dumplings were awesome! Plump and juicy, the generous fillings were tasty and fresh. We loved the texture of the skin too 🙂

基隆廟口夜市 Keelung Miaokou Night Market

IMG_4672IMG20171030173637No trip to Taiwan would be complete without a visit to one of the night markets every night, at least, according to hubby 😛

Since we were at 九份 Jiufen earlier in the day, 基隆 Keelung was the most logical option for this evening. Mr J happened to be in Taipei during this period of time, so we decided to meet up at this night market.

板橋湳雅夜市 Banqiao Nanya Night Market @Taipei

Surprise, surprise! We found 板橋湳雅夜市 Banqiao Nanya Night Market, which we had never been to before 😛 Mainly because it was not so accessible via the metro and was not too near to where we usually stay, but there was a direct bus from 三峽老街 Sanxia Old Street, where we would be earlier in the day, so this was the perfect opportunity to check out this night market!

First stop was 蚵仔之家 House of Oysters, where we tried the 蚵仔餃 Fried Oyster Dumpling (NT60 for 4 pieces), and 蚵仔麵線 Oyster Mee Sua (NT90). The oyster dumplings were huge and juicy, with the juice just bursting out when we took the first bite 😮 The mixture of minced meat and oyster was very flavourful 🙂 The very generous amount of oysters made every mouthful of vermicelli a real treat 😀

Next stop was 板橋(王)好吃麻油雞 Wang’s Delicious Sesame Oil Chicken. That huge pot of sesame chicken looked really appetising, so we decided to try some 麻油雞 Sesame Oil Chicken (NT100) and 麻油麵線 Sesame Oil Mee Sua (NT30). While the vermicelli was quite standard, the chicken was quite juicy and tender.

We walked around some more, but were really too full to try anything else. Gotta come back some time to try out the other food 🙂
