When we did our first Sydney Free Day Walking Tour on the second day, the guide highly recommended that we try Kangaroo meat, which tastes delicious when cooked to medium rare or rare, but becomes very tough when overcooked.
She also suggested a few places that we can go, and we eventually came to the Dining Room at The Orient, after our second Sydney Free Night Walking Tour by the same company.
It was actually a very busy pub on the ground floor, a restaurant on the second floor (or first floor, according to Australians) which was relatively much quieter, and a night club on the top floor.
This is a new restaurant that just took over the Korean BBQ Chicken and opened recently. Since we don’t know how long it will last, it is best to pay a visit fast! 😛 In fact, we came here twice in the past 2 weeks, you know, just in case…
The first time, we reached the restaurant close to 9pm, and when we asked what time the place was closing, the staff gave a very vague reply “… Depending on customers…” Huh? Too new to decide formal closing time? Anyway, slightly re-assured that we did not have to gobble our dinner in a hurry, we grabbed a book of coupons that was placed near the entrance, and headed in!

Fish Belly Porridge
I was still craving for some comforting and delicious porridge before going back to office to work and we ended up at Crystal Jade at Bishan Junction 8. I was feeling abit apprehensive as our previous experience with this place wasn’t very good, and we were worried about the dinner crowd as we didn’t make any reservations…
Turned out that it was fairly easy to get a table for 2 if you weren’t going for the steamboat buffet… haha! We were brought to a table immediately and I happily ordered the Fish Belly Porridge and hubby decided to try Beehoon with Shredded Duck. And of course, something to share – Broccoli with Mushrooms.
