Day trip to 진해 Jinhae (Cherry Blossom Festival) @Changwon, South Korea

2017-04-01 06.18.03We woke up at 4+ in the morning for the main highlight of our trip, cherry blossom viewing at 진해 Jinhae 镇海!

This year, the 진해군항제 Jinhae Gunhangje Festival 镇海军港祭 (aka Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival) would be held from 1st to 10th April 2017. When we started planning for this trip, the cherry blossom forecast dates were not quite out yet, so we had buffered close to a week in 부산 Busan 釜山, and listed a few things to do in Busan, while keeping things flexible so that we could do a day trip to Jinhae, and hopefully catch the cherry blossoms in their full glory.

We had originally planned to go on a weekday so that it would not be not so crowded, but it appeared that the flowers were approaching full bloom earlier, and the weather forecast for today was rainy all day, which meant that that was a chance that the fragile flowers might be blown away! Today was a Saturday, and also the first day of Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival, so we figured that it was better to be earlier than late.

Day trip to 長洲 Cheung Chau, Hong Kong

2016-12-09 08.41.56We had a great time at 南丫島 Lamma Island previously, and this time, we decided to check out 長洲 Cheung Chau.

There was also an ongoing discount for ferry tickets till end of 2016, so it was an additional motivation to go pay a visit 😛

2016-12-09 08.25.31First, we had a nice dim sum breakfast at hubby’s favourite yumcha place at 蓮香樓 Lin Heung Tea House, because of its great atmosphere.

The food quality today was much better than our previous visit! We absolutely adored the steamed mushroom 😀

Anyway, after a leisurely breakfast, we walked to Central Ferry Pier No. 5 to wait for the next normal ferry at 09:00.

Jing Hua Restaurant 京華小吃 @Chinatown

It’s a special day, so it’s a special meal! 🙂

We had just finished our massage, and was walking around the Ann Siang Hill/Duxton area to find a place for late dinner. Lots of pubs and bars around, but we decided to come back to this old favourite which we have patronised a few times before. It’s a simple Chinese-styed eatery along Neil Road with a equally simple menu of a few dishes. I guess there’s no need for a complicated menu which is full of everything but rather be good at a few that gets your customers keep coming back. 🙂
