永和豆漿 Yonghe Breakfast Shop @Taipei

2016-10-30-09-36-09There was a small 永和豆漿 Yonghe Breakfast Shop outlet near our place at 早餐街 Breakfast Street (and a more atas looking branch opposite street), so we thought why not have a local breakfast here since our hotel did not provide breakfast, but only some light bites.

There were very limited seats here, and many people were doing take-away. We opted to eat-in, so it was a 15min wait for an assigned table, and the food followed quite quickly after that.

Since we already had some light bites earlier, we shared some 豆浆 Soy Milk (NT$23), 油条 Fried Fritters (NT$17), and 培根蛋餅 Bacon Egg Wrap (NT$33). The food was very typical Taiwan food. Not bad for our first local breakfast in Taipei 🙂

Huang Taiji 黄太吉 @George Street, Sydney

2016-08-17-16-21-00We wanted to go grab a quick bite before meeting our friend, and Chicken Schnitzel Jianbing 鸡柳蔬菜煎饼 (A$9.90) from this fast food restaurant seemed like a good option!

Served in a huge paper bag, it was piping hot and huge! It was soft egg crepe on the outside, followed by a yummy crispy fried wanton skin-like batter, with all other ingredients such as fried chicken, vegetables and sauces were all rolled inside.

Sweet and savoury, it was a great snack for 2 to share, or one could be quite full eating it alone, for it was quite huge. Would be perfect if the chicken was larger… 🙂

Doi Chaang Coffee @United Square

2016-08-05 20.51.412016-08-29 10.25.17A new kid on the block, and the waffles were calling out to us!

We got ourselves the Red Velvet and Charcoal flavours ($6.90 each), and a Sambal Beef Wrap ($5.50). The waffles were huge, and we belatedly realised that we could have ordered a half-and-half, after the staff mistakenly did one, so we ended up with 2 half-and-halfs. Hahah. Half-and-half looked prettier, and were crispy outside, soft on the inside.

The staff described Melon Milk ($4.50) as “melon with milk” and then everyone burst out laughing! Anyway, this was not bad. The melon taste was quite fragrant without being too cloying sweet. The Green Tea Milk ($5) was basically matcha latte which was not bad, while the Iced Doi Chaang ($6.50) was alright, but it was abit hard to judge since it was iced.

It was quite a cosy place to hang out and chit chat, and we had fun trying to find the countries in the “world map” on the wall.
