GRUB @Bishan Park 1

After a slow walk...

After a slow walk…

We were up early and took a slow walk (part of our new exercise regime) to Bishan Park!

It was a leisurely 40-min walk and at the end of it, we decided to go to GRUB (again!!) for breakfast today!

As we arrived shortly after it was opened for the day, we didn’t have to queue (or use the unique queue system which they shared with Wild Honey), yeah!

Drury Lane Cafe @Tanjong Pagar

Relaxing time

Relaxing time

Hubby was at a seminar today and had plenty of time to spare before meeting me for dinner. He had initially wanted to go to Department of Caffeine but unfortunately, it was closed 😦

He searched high and low for a cafe that didn’t close by 5pm, and finally found Drury Lane Cafe to chill out while waiting for me to knock off.

One Man Coffee @Upper Thomson

The alphabet chairs!

The alphabet chairs!

Self-labelled napkins

We have heard so much about this ‘One Man’ that we must come! This is a specialty coffee concept store that that focuses on the art of the espresso and shares the space with Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar. It brews coffee and all-day breakfast until 5pm and hands the store over to Crust Pizza for them to serve up think-crust pizza. How cool is that?

Yahava Koffeeworks @Upper Thomson

Give me coffee and no one gets hurt

Give me coffee and no one gets hurt

We have been coming here (a bit less regularly than we would have wanted) for its wonderful coffee. But we have never posted about it. Maybe we didn’t want too many people to know about it, lest it disturb the serenity of this wonderful place… Haha…

We were introduced to Yahava by wifey’s friend and after our first visit, we immediately loved the place!

It’s a very simple setting with large tables and chairs and a set of cozy sofa right at the middle of the cafe. There is a wall-mounted projector and I presumed the area can be turned into a mini-lecture area when they are conducting classes. Yes they do conduct courses through The Yahava Koffee Academy which offers barista training courses for all skill levels. But I seriously doubt anyone could concentrate in such a lovely aromatic place, complete with soft music and soothing lights…

St. Marc Cafe @Raffles City

Big spread

Big spread

Well, we were happy with dinner, but we wanted to have some desserts too, so we continued with part 2 of dinner 😛

We spotted the last seats at St. Marc Cafe and quickly grabbed them! But alas, no cakes are sold here 😦 Nonetheless, we still found food to try… Haha!

Got myself a Matcha Latte ($6) and Choco Cro ($2.40), while hubby had his usual Cafe Latte ($5) and tried a Bacon Cheese Croissant ($2.80).

Bali 2014 Day 3

[Here is the photostream of Bali 2014, for those who prefer pictures to tell a story. 🙂]

Day 3 in Bali!

Day 3 in Bali!

We woke up bright and early at 6am to prepare to go to the morning market! Hubby had French Toast with Ham and Egg, while I stuck to Bubur Ayam 😛

We were feeling quite tired because of the lack of quality sleep the night before due to the power trip. And this morning, we discovered that our safety deposit box in the room had malfunctioned (could be because of a weak battery) and we could not unlock it! 😮 Luckily, the staff was very prompt in action and managed to help us retrieve our stuff.

We were assured that the maintenance team would come by and ensure that everything was fine.

Cafe Pal @Middle Road

Latte art

Latte art

We were around the area and had an hour or so to spare… Whipped out our phones to find a nearby cafe, and Cafe Pal showed up as one of the options! This is a cafe that serves modern Thai food, so it seemed quite a waste if we did not try out some of the food!

The cafe has a modern look with a high bar top and a sofa set near the entrance for a more comfortable, relax sit. There is a whole section on bubble teas for takeaways and I suspect this is to cater to the students in the Bugis area. The cafe allows party reservations and you can book the whole place and invite friends over for parties!

[closed] November 8 Café & Company @Thomson V Two

Note: November 8 Cafe has ceased operations at this location, and opened another one by the name of Five by Five at Thomson V One.

It was a very hot afternoon and we just had an early lunch. Needed a place to chill, and we decided to head to Thomson V, where we recalled that there were a couple of new cafés that we had yet to try.

A small signboard caught our attention, leading us to a rather spacious November 8 Café & Company! The lovely 2-seater sofa with water flowing down the glass window was beckoning to us 🙂

Despite being half-empty, there weren’t enough menus to go around. But we were quickly served with water while waiting. With the atmosphere being so chillax and it was a lazy Sunday afternoon, we didn’t mind the wait 🙂

Wild Honey @Mandarin Galleria

Busy Orchard Road outside

Busy Orchard Road outside

Went to run errands in town and found a breakfast place! The queue system was similar to Grub @ Bishan, and hubby was pleasantly surprised that the system knew his name after he keyed in his mobile number to join the queue. Turns out that both Wild Honey and Grub are under the same management!

Group Therapy @Duxton

Interesting sign board

Interesting sign board

Ended work today around 4pm at Clarke Quay area and went over to Chinatown to meet up with hubby to enjoy the buzz of the festive season with only 2 more weeks to Chinese New Year! 🙂 We walked till our legs were aching and got ourselves 1.8kg worth of Taiwanese fruit jelly. Together with a laptop, they were too heavy and we decided that we needed some coffee therapy!

Did a quick search of cafés nearby on our Foursquare app and decided on Group Therapy. This cafe was tugged on the second floor along a long stretch of restored shop houses along Duxton Road, and we almost missed the small entrance had it not been a tip on Foursquare :p The door knob was actually an ice cream scoop nailed to the door… Haha!

The deco is very cafe-like, with some corners tugged with sofas and big tall tables lining up in the middle of the premise. Ambiance is cosy with soft music playing in the background, and the soothing lighting, together with sunlight from the windows made the place a very nice place for small gatherings.
