Yummilicious BKT

It’s Christmas Eve and we had lunch with my parents 🙂

Gotta say the ribs were still as good as ever, especially the Dragon Bone or 龙骨! It was not the soft soft nua nua type; rather, it was slightly firm to bite, we loved the texture! The free top-up of soup was also a great plus point! We love the soup here as it was not so overpowering with pepper.

The pig’s trotter was very soft today and the meat was literally falling off the bone, and this was quite different from our previous experience, where the meat was so tough! Dad said that we should request for the fatty type, otherwise, we would be given the lean type and the meat would be very tough. Now we know how to order the next time 🙂

Cosy little shop

Cosy little shop

Been here a few times but there was always a long queue outside. Even when we sat down at the table, there would still be a long wait for the food to be prepared. So since we had time this evening, and since there were empty tables around, we decided to just drop by!

This little shop used to be at Yio Chu Kang Road but has shifted to this little neighbourhood near us a few years back. There are <10 tables inside and the seating capacity is extremely small. And the chef and his wife insist to only cook when order, even with the more intricate dishes, so there is always a long wait for the food to be served. And they cook in batches. So if you order for example, Xiao Long Bao with the other tables, then it will be served together. But if the rest ordered XLB and you ordered something else, then it will be a long wait.

L’Rez @Nanyang Polytechnic

Here again!

Here again!

This time round, it was to meet an old friend!

So we tried to make a reservation but reservations were full, and we were advised to try walking in at 11:30am. And we did, but it was not full leh! Haha…

L’Rez has been teaming up with more local celebrity chefs in the “Celebrity Chef Series”. After Violet Oon, there was Chef Michael from Brussels Sprouts Group, Celebrity “Chef-in-Black” Emmanuel Stroobant from Saint Pierre and Celebrity Chef Eric Teo from Mandarin Oriental. Good reviews were heard from diners and this proves to be a great opportunity for students to learn from the best!

Hai Zhong Bao (海中寶) Live Seafood @AMK

Daddy read about this zichar stall in the newspapers and thought the food looked pretty good! Some of his friends also said that the food was not bad, so off we went to try!

Located just a few blocks opposite Ang Mo Kio MRT Station and the Town Garden, Hai Zhong Bao Live Seafood occupies the corner stall of this kopitiam at the void deck of Blk 422. Like many kopitiams in Singapore, the environment is homely, lively and a little noisy at times, especially when a soccer match is going on. 🙂

Chicken Bryani

Chicken Bryani

Went to grab lunch at this little outlet right outside the main building of AMKHub before visiting Challenger (hoping not to have to go Comex@Expo… haha!)

Ordered Nasi Briyani Chicken and Sardine Murtabak, along with Kopi C Kosong and Teh Tarik (less sweet).

I think it’s very important to emphasize less sweet, otherwise I will die of sugar high 😛 less sweet was just nice!
