Takumi Restaurant @Keppel Bay

2016-09-03-20-42-58We took a leisurely stroll from Vivocity to Keppel Island, in our attempt to make our space in our tummies for dinner 😛

We read some good reviews at Takumi, and we are always eager to try Japanese food!

Takumi is a Japanese fine dining restaurant headed by Chef Okumura Kenji, and hails both a Robata and a Teppan counter all under one roof. The environment is uniquely Japanese zen-like with lots of space and private dining options too.

Fresh seafood is sourced from Tsukiji market and served at the special sushi counter and one can watch on as Chef Shigeru Shiraishi puts his knife skills and nimble hands to work.

Marigold Restaurant @Haymarket, Sydney

Dim sum is a popular Chinese cuisine meant for sharing. And it was definitely more fun to feast with friends! Four of us shared 16 items and had a wonderful 2.5-hour lunch!

We loved the atmosphere here, plus the push-cart style service made it a lot more fun. It was a very popular restaurant, and the queue never stopped throughout our lunch.

The Orient @The Rocks, Sydney

2016-08-19-20-03-05When we did our first Sydney Free Day Walking Tour on the second day, the guide highly recommended that we try Kangaroo meat, which tastes delicious when cooked to medium rare or rare, but becomes very tough when overcooked.

She also suggested a few places that we can go, and we eventually came to the Dining Room at The Orient, after our second Sydney Free Night Walking Tour by the same company.

It was actually a very busy pub on the ground floor, a restaurant on the second floor (or first floor, according to Australians) which was relatively much quieter, and a night club on the top floor.

Sydney Madang Korean BBQ Restaurant @Pitt Street, Sydney

Another recommendation by Ms I, Madang is a popular Korean BBQ restaurant near our apartment. We reached the restaurant just past 7.30pm, and there was a small crowd waiting outside. Luckily, there were more tables for smaller groups, and we only waited 15 minutes for our table.

We were seated near the entrance, and it was kind of nice for we had the heater right next to our table, with a lovely breeze coming in front the entrance. Hubby said it reminded him of the street food eats feeling.

Fratelli Fresh @Bridge Street, Sydney

Ms I highly recommended that we try out Fratelli Fresh, so we took a 15-minute walk here after our Walking Tour ended at the harbour front.

We ended up sharing a white base Parma Pizza (A$22) and a Cauliflower with Chickpea and Spinach (A$9.50) to share.

Hakata Gensuke Ramen @Little Burke Street, Melbourne

2016-08-15-18-13-49Hakata Gensuke Ramen Professionals were celebrating their 2nd year anniversary today! A pity we were not in time to be the first 50 customers to get the free ramen as part of the celebrations.

Nonetheless, we joined the relatively short queue and got our seats within 10 minutes.

The tiny restaurant was like a typical Japanese ramen place, with staff shouting out greetings in unison, and tiny tables and seats.

We had already pre-selected the Signature Tonkotsu Ramen and Shio Tonkotsu Ramen, both with additional toppings of cha-shu, seaweed, and flavoured egg (base price A$13 each, with additional toppings at A$8).

Kimchi Grandma Restaurant @Carnegie, Victoria

2016-08-13-21-20-37After a long day trip of feeding pelicans and watching penguins come home at Phillip Island, we were hunting for a late dinner on our way back to Melbourne CBD, and XY brought us to his favourite Korean restaurant, which he said was cheap and good!

This is a simple restaurant in the neighbourhood of Carnegie 16km south-east of Melbourne CBD, with simple decor but serves up authentic delicious Korean dishes with warm hospitality.

As in the case of traditional Korean restaurants, the appetizers came in generous portions and were yummy too, and refillable! It was also fortunate that we came as a group of 5, for the portions of the main dishes were huge!

The Cape Kitchen @Phillip Island, Victoria

2016-08-13-12-53-59After we fed the pelicans and toured the Chocolate Factory on Phillip Island, it’s time to find lunch!

A quick search on Google brought us to The Cape Kitchen and we gotta say, the ocean view from the restaurant was awesome!!

This is also a popular place for weddings and celebrations apparently because it offers breathtaking views of the Southern Ocean and coastline with a menu that is focussed on what is in-season as well as introducing unique Australian flavours.

BangPop @South Wharf, Melbourne

wp-image-780699807jpg.jpgThis was a rather atas-looking Thai restaurant, with ATMs located within the restaurant 😮 But we wanted to grab dinner fast, before walking over to Docklands for a good spot to watch fireworks display, so we decided to just head into it.

Seasons Provedore @Lygon Street, Melbourne

2016-08-11-14-47-25We were walking along Lygon Street (known as Little Italy in Melbourne) after our morning trip to Brighton Beach, trying to figure out which of the (many) Italian restaurant we should try, when JJ pointed out Seasons Provedore to us, as she had dined here before with good experience.

Trusting her precious good experience, we decided to have our lunch here too.

The Chicken Curry Pie (A$10.50) was a gorgeous huge pie served warmed, with buttery pastry and oh-so-juicy huge chicken chunks filling up the pie entirely, and curry filling up the gaps! This is how chicken pies should be, filled with huge chicken chunks instead of potatoes and frozen peas and carrots. Oh, and this is an award-winning pie!
