L’Rez @Nanyang Polytechnic

Here again!

Here again!

This time round, it was to meet an old friend!

So we tried to make a reservation but reservations were full, and we were advised to try walking in at 11:30am. And we did, but it was not full leh! Haha…

L’Rez has been teaming up with more local celebrity chefs in the “Celebrity Chef Series”. After Violet Oon, there was Chef Michael from Brussels Sprouts Group, Celebrity “Chef-in-Black” Emmanuel Stroobant from Saint Pierre and Celebrity Chef Eric Teo from Mandarin Oriental. Good reviews were heard from diners and this proves to be a great opportunity for students to learn from the best!

Ambush @Junction 8

Kenna ambushed!

Kenna ambushed!

Off days meant waking up late and lazing around, and going for a good lunch!

Went to Junction 8 for lunch on this beautiful off day, and Ambush has seats so here I am. This is a Fast Casual European Dining outlet (as stated on its website) and we came here a few times before, always wanting to try its pork knuckles but always sold out. 😦

The ambience is casual and they serve very decent European food which includes pastas, paellas, sausages, poultry and seafood! What’s interesting is that their menu is formatted like a newspaper so reading the menu feels like reading a newspaper!

Barossa @Holland Village

We were hunting for food at Holland Village when we spotted One-for-One Australian Beef Buffet (usual price $43.90++) that was available every Wednesday and Saturday. We had to show the waitress that we had “Liked” their Facebook page before we could start the dinner. There was a time limit of 90 min, but we only had 60 min, since the buffet ends at 10pm… yeah, it was a super late dinner for us!

We liked that there was live music indoors, but that meant that we had to sit outdoors because it was too noisy indoors. Luckily, it was quite a cooling night, so it was pretty relaxing to chill outdoors with live music in the background, and we could still engage in a decent conversation.

Osteria Mozza @MBS

Watching chef in action

Watching chef in action

Chef at salad station

Chef at salad station

We were back in this vicinity again! This time we were at Gardens by the Bay and decided to go Marina Bay Sands for dinner. It does seem like we are trying to conquer all the Celebrity Chef restaurants huh? 😛

We ended up at Osteria Mozza today! Chefs Nancy Silverton, Mario Batali and Joseph Bastianich (the botak judge from MasterChef) meld their prodigious talents to bring Pizzeria Mozza and Osteria Mozza to the heart of Singapore, and this is one of the 2 Mozzas in the world.

Only the counter seats were available tonight, but it was quite fun to watch the chefs in action actually 🙂 The waiter recommended that we try a 3-course meal and suggested to split up one portion of pasta into two instead of ordering two portions. What a good idea!

db Bistro Moderne @MBS

Impressive entrance

Impressive entrance

Hubby went to Sands Expo and Conference at Marina Bay Sands for a conference, so we made use of this opportunity to dine at MBS 🙂

He was keen to try out one of the Celebrity Chef restaurants, and we ended up at db Bistro Moderne, because it looked fairly empty and the prices didn’t seem too exorbitant… haha!

This place is owned by celebrity French chef Chef Daniel Boulud, who owns and runs restaurants all over the world from New York City, Palm Beach, Miami, Montreal, Toronto, London, Beijing, to Singapore! He is best known for Daniel, his eponymous, Michelin 3-star restaurant in New York City.

MOA Brewing Company New Zealand Bar and Grill @Changi City Point

Relax feel

Relax feel

(This post in re-written in absolute frustration at stupid WordPress app which seemed to kill off my every other post despite multiple saving. So names may not be correct since it has been a while since I ate the food… Not too sure how long I can live with it…!!)

This is probably a pretty nice place to chill out, with the darts machine in one corner and 1 huge screen for soccer fans indoors. There was supposed to be live music outdoors, but we didn’t stay late enough to hear it.

Table Manners @Changi City Point

Perfect place for dinner

Perfect place for dinner

Happened to attend a conference at Expo today, so we planned to drop by Changi City Point to check it out.

Decided to try out this place coz hubby read that the burger is good! It was pretty crowded at 7+pm on a Friday, so reservations may be a good idea.

The restaurant is divided into a small indoor area and a bigger alfresco dining area. The tables are lined up into one long curved stretch rather than individually island-ed,  and diners sit on both sides of the long table, very much like in a canteen. This gives the diners a very communal friendly ambience and everyone feels like we could be friends instantly!

A simple place for meals

A simple place for meals

It’s a Monday evening and I had just finished a walk/jog from workplace to Botanic Gardens, and met hubby at Botanic Gardens for a meal at Cluny Court just beside Botanic Gardens.

Incidentally, Cluny Court is a 2-storey old building located just next to Botanic Gardens MRT, the French Embassy, Serene Centre, and across the road from Adam Rd Hawker Centre. This beautiful building houses a variety of shops, including Cold Storage, da Paolo Gastronomia, Brill, Bar Bar Black Sheep, Simply Bread, and of course relish by Wildrocket!

La Ristrettos Coffee Boutique

Little hide-out in Novena Medical Centre

This is a little hide-out on the 8th floor of Novena Medical Centre, with limited indoor and outdoor seating. Its actually quite lovely to sit outdoors with the huge overhead umbrella and greenery surrounding you when the weather is not too hot.

This little joint serves sandwiches and pasta, and of course, coffee! Heard that the coffee is excellent, but since I’m a tea-drinker, can’t comment on this =p

Crab and Angel Hair Pasta

Had the crab and angel hair pasta today. Tangy with a little heat from the small chillies, and hint of alcohol from the white wine sauce, it was a very delicious meal, worth the 20-min wait… it certainly brightened up my day =)
