Arteastiq Boutique Tea House @Plaza Singapura

2016-09-09-08-43-46We were in town today and after checking out the whole of Plaza Singapore, the comfortable plush seats here at Arteastiq called out to us!

We decided to try out the weekday set lunches here (available from 11am to 1.30pm) which consists of a main and a specialty tea (or coffee) from $16++ onwards.

We got ourselves The Prince of Monte Carlo ($25++) and Golden Sands Big Breakfast ($24++). For drinks, it was Honey Lavender Tea and Latte.

redpan @Marina Square

2016-09-05-20-00-31Since we had only shared a bowl of tendon earlier, we figured we could check out redpan on the same day too, since it was a fairly short walk from Suntec City to Marina Square.

A brainchild of DP Architects x GRUB, redpan serves interesting dishes paired with local flavours, and we had a hard time deciding which ones to try. We ended up with:

  • Grilled Kingfish Collar ($19++): We usually eat our stingray with chinchalok chilli, and were pleased that this chilli went well with the Kingfish Collar that was grilled to perfection. With crisp skin and tender flesh, this was super addictive!
  • Beef Short Rib ‘Satay’ ($32++): The beef short rib came with satay sauce, pickled cucumber & onions, and it was oh-so-tender!
  • Lychee Earl Grey Iced Tea ($5++): We could definitely taste the lychee, but less so of the earl grey flavour. Still a refreshing drink though!

We were served by a lovely staff today, and service was excellent! It was a great dinner to end our evening 🙂

​Tempura Kohaku 天ぷら琥珀 @Eat At Seven, Suntec City

2016-09-05-17-35-52This is one of the recent restaurants to open at Eat At Seven (Enbu, Nikunohi etc.) in Suntec.

We attempted to come here during dinner time previously, but the queue was simply too long.

This time, we arrived before 5.30pm and walked into a mostly empty restaurant. Yippee!!!!

We shared a Kohaku Tendon ($15++) and opted for the non-spicy version. It was way better than the expensive one we had at Wisma Atria!

We especially enjoyed the juicy and tender chicken breast, and the squid piece. Other items included prawn, crab stick, baby corn, pumpkin, mushroom and long beans. The rice was pretty fluffy and fragrant too, and they were not over zealous with the sauce.

In terms of value-for-money, hubby still preferred his favourite Tendon Ginza Itsuki with the onsen egg…

PeraMakan @Keppel Club

2016-09-05-12-49-45Keppel Club certainly brought back much memories for us 🙂

From VivoCity, we took a 30-minute stroll into Keppel Club… It was a fairly long walk in!

Since we had already tried Peony Jade a couple of times before, we wanted to check out PeraMakan this time.

Being a Monday, it was a really quiet day, and we had seats by the windows.

We enjoyed each dish, and like that the flavours were very balanced, without being overly spicy or sweet. We also liked the crackers that was served as appetiser.

​Out of the Cake Box @Telok Blangah

2016-09-04-10-28-27We were just exploring this area and found this little local bakery with just 3 tables, but more than 10 kinds of cakes available!

Upon recommendations, we decided to share a baked Jasmine-Yuzu Cheesecake ($6.50), for we wanted something light. We also got ourselves a Flat White ($4.50) and a Tea Wands Chai Masala ($4.50, refillable once).

The unassuming cheesecake was full of delicate jasmine and yuzu fragrance that lingered on after our first bites! The rare jasmine cheese mousse was very light with yuzu bits at the lower half of the cake, and jasmine jelly was sweet and refreshing. The savoury base crust complemented the flavours well. Oooohhh, we were so tempted to have another one!

The tea wand is a clever tea bag that works as a stirrer too! The tea itself was not bad. The coffee was alright.

This place is located in a sleepy HDB neighbourhood, and it was a lovely place for us to just chillax and chit chat. They also offer baking and decorating workshops.

Takumi Restaurant @Keppel Bay

2016-09-03-20-42-58We took a leisurely stroll from Vivocity to Keppel Island, in our attempt to make our space in our tummies for dinner 😛

We read some good reviews at Takumi, and we are always eager to try Japanese food!

Takumi is a Japanese fine dining restaurant headed by Chef Okumura Kenji, and hails both a Robata and a Teppan counter all under one roof. The environment is uniquely Japanese zen-like with lots of space and private dining options too.

Fresh seafood is sourced from Tsukiji market and served at the special sushi counter and one can watch on as Chef Shigeru Shiraishi puts his knife skills and nimble hands to work.

​呷三碗  Eat 3 Bowls @Seah Im Food Centre

2016-09-03-11-35-11This was a new stall since our last visit to Seah Im Food Centre at Telok Blangah, and who could resist Braised Meat Rice 滷肉飯 that cost only $2.50! We also ordered the Deep Fried Intestines 炸大膓 ($4) instead of the usually braised intestines.

The braised meat rice was awesome, transporting us immediately back to Taiwan!!

The good balance of meat and fats and the lovely rice drenched with gravy. This was worth every single cent! The deep fried intestines reminded us of 鹽酥雞, for within the super crispy exterior lay the very soft intestines. We liked it! Some might find the smell a bit too strong though.

We were very happy with our choice and would love to come back to try out the other items!

Peter’s Fish Market @Sydney Fish Market, Sydney

2016-08-19-14-15-22When we decided to visit Ms I in Sydney and began our research, Sydney Fish Market (SFM) popped up on Google Maps and I made a note that we must come and visit because we are so fond of fish markets with its fresh seafood (or markets in general, really… Haha)!

After more research, we realized that this is the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere and the 3rd largest fish market in the world in terms of variety. It is also a popular place with over 2.7 million visitors coming here annually.

But the most exciting part for us is SFM also includes many seafood eateries within its premises and one can buy fresh seafood to cook at home, or order them and have them cooked on the spot in various styles!
